Salahdine Parnasse headlined in front of a home crowd at the Accor Arena on Friday and did not need a second round. The Frenchman stopped Dan Hooker at 2:25 of the first, closing a sequence that started downstairs and finished upstairs, and the referee had seen enough before the halfway mark of the opening five minutes.
It was the kind of finish that reads worse for the loser than the clock suggests. Hooker has spent a decade as one of the division's most durable operators, and a first-round stoppage against a fighter making his case at the top of the card resets a lot of assumptions about where both men sit.
The rest of the main card
Four of the six main-card bouts ended inside the distance, which is a high rate for any card and an unusually high one for a Fight Night.
- Salahdine Parnasse def. Dan Hooker — TKO, round 1, 2:25 (lightweight)
- Axel Sola def. Farès Ziam — KO, round 1, 1:40 (lightweight)
- Michael Venom Page def. Nursulton Ruziboev — unanimous decision, 29-28 on all three cards (middleweight)
- Daniil Donchenko def. Punahele Soriano — unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 (middleweight)
- Kurtis Campbell def. Trevor Peek — submission, rear-naked choke, round 3, 3:07 (featherweight)
- Losene Keita def. Muhammad Naimov — KO, round 1, 2:54 (lightweight)
A very French night
Sola needed 100 seconds against Farès Ziam, and Keita went through Muhammad Naimov before the three-minute mark of the first. Three of the four finishes on the main card came inside a round, and the arena spent much of the evening reacting to fights that were over almost as soon as they had settled.
The two decisions were the outliers rather than the pattern. Michael Venom Page took a clean sweep of 29-28 cards against Nursulton Ruziboev — close on every judge's card but never split — while Daniil Donchenko was more comfortable against Punahele Soriano, taking two 30-27s and a 29-28.
Kurtis Campbell supplied the only submission, finding a rear-naked choke on Trevor Peek at 3:07 of the third. That one had the longest road of anything on the card and still did not reach the horn.
